Matblac strives for its products to embody the Raw Design concept.

Raw Design is about going back to the basics, it’s about the reason you needed the product in the first place. It’s about utility and functionality. Once a product embodies these qualities and is assembled using the finest materials, it becomes timeless.

It all started with my need for a slim wallet that was everything I needed and nothing more, and quickly gained momentum as people around the world embraced Matblac’s concept of personal attention to detail and fuss free design. Wallets were just the beginning of an obsession with taking every day apparel and re-working it from the ground up, spending months searching for just the right

ingredients to morph the standard into the suave. What used to be a love of leather has spread to all things natural. After seeing the limitless potential of fine German felt I knew it would become the base of my future creations.

All Matblac products are handmade by their designer, with assistance from Mncedisi 'Macgyver' Mdubu. With no formal training in design or construction he has spent most of his life persuing craft as a hobby until 2008 when the first slimline wallet turned into a full time design career. Matblac products are proudly designed and crafted in Cape Town from the Worlds finest ingredients.
